The UPC is a forum for the uniform application of patent law across European member states. However, it is anticipated that there will be a certain amount of local “flavour” to the “uniform” application of this law.
The EPLN is a network of like-minded intellectual property law firms from across the UPC member states, who have come together to collaborate in providing an effective and flexible resource for representing clients before the UPC. By collaborating on a sustained basis we have developed efficient working relationships with each other. We also share our knowledge of the law and procedure of the UPC, providing a rich pool of local and pan-European insight into the workings of the UPC as it evolves.
You don’t retain the services of the EPLN. Instead, you choose the member firm whose skills and expertise best suit your individual needs. The other members are on-hand to assist if required and it works for you.
When you engage the services of one of our members you then have access to the resources of our other members, providing vital local knowledge when the need arises. For example, preparation of a case on patent infringement may require an investigation and a legally correct trap purchase (or even a seizure) of suspected infringing goods in a particular UPC member state. The members of the EPLN have ready access to the local resources of our EPLN colleagues if and when necessary. With each other’s support we are able to respond faster to changes in circumstances, giving you a cost-effective and adaptable solution to patent litigation in the main European territories.
EPLN members are not however tied to the EPLN for support. We each have the flexibility to work with other firms in appropriate circumstances. So the EPLN is a truly adaptable network centred on you.
So all you need to do is contact one of our members and the EPLN will be available to be deployed at your service.
